lying / covering the truth, same thing?

vibbs; lying and cover the truth is NOT the same thing, 'cause when u're lying, u know that u will hurt someone IF the truth will come out, but still, u actually dnt give a shit.. covering the truth is to PROTECT someone.. so technically, covering the truth is NOT lying...
masa; but still.. same thing.. lying is when u dnt tell the truth.. :D
